January 2023 MSAT Results Thread

Hey everyone, I figured that I would go ahead and start the January results thread since it hasn't been created already. I felt pretty good going into the test and I felt like I would do well (despite the extra pressured generated from the MSA deciding to take our second take away).

Good luck to everyone! I know this test is already very hard, and they're not making it any easier on us. Practice hard before you decide to use your attempt and you'll do fine.

My word of advice? Drill. 
Drill like there's no tomorrow. I probably did 3-4000 practice rounds before I took this test. I even upped it towards the end of December after hearing rumors that we wouldn't be allowed to take it two times anymore. 

My diagnostic was a 180. I did a lot of PRs to get comfortable enough to achieve a score like this, and truth be told, even with all of that practice under my belt I don't think I could replicate this type of performance. I had a lot of easy m-tables, but the rare tables didn't hinder my rhythm either, so I was pretty quick the entire way through. 

My rule of thumb was: If I couldn't score +5 above what I'm aiming for, my job wasn't finished yet. I was aiming for 205, so I practiced until my scores fluctuated between 210 and 212. Once I was comfortable, I went for it, and in the end, I ended up with a 213. Admittedly, I never scored this high on any of my PRs, but that just goes to show what can happen when you're well prepared and fueled by adrenaline.

damn. January was harder than i expected, especially given that December was essentially a cake walk for most test takers. my diagnostic was a 187, and my last 10 PRs had ranged from 209 to 212. i definitely felt like i had nerves, and i wish i could have another take tbh, but i'm still happy with my score nonetheless. good luck everyone!

I felt good about this one, but I still underperformed slightly as compared to my PRs (ranged from 207-211). Still, I'm okay with it, and Eden seems to like it as well. I'm happy.

I was a borderline candidate for Columbia. I received an interview invite today and they told me that I would hear from them by the end of the day. Unfortunately, I was denied, but I think I was a toss up because of having aced my exam. I do think there is a cutoff for how much pull an ace provides. I think had I gotten a 212, I might've snuck in.


Got the rest of the Select invites earlier today (Eden, Newton, Alexandria, & Elizabeth). Remember, at the top, acing is imperative. I'm probably the lowest out of the super-duper high scorers here, but I got that interview invite from C due to my ace. Try to always aim for accuracy.
